Questions
Why does the order of the treaties matter?
Because each treaty is offered what the ones above it did not take. A surplus works on the line left after the quota share; computing both on the original sum insured cedes the same money twice.
How are catastrophe losses recovered?
A per-event layer gathers every claim carrying the same catastrophe code into one event, and recovers on what the proportional treaties left, within the layer's limit, reinstatements and remaining capacity.
A 2025 loss is reported in 2026. Which treaty pays?
The 2025 treaty. Cover follows the date of loss, so an expired treaty still recovers losses inside its period; only draft and cancelled treaties never carried risk.
Can the bordereau be wrong?
It is refused at issue if its lines do not tie to the cessions of the period or if it is empty, and once issued it cannot be edited.
Can we see it working first?
Open the live insurance demo and press Log in — the form is already filled in. Reinsurance is under Finance, with thirty treaties, 124 cessions, 86 recoveries and 52 bordereaux.
