Transport overview & setup
The Transport module manages every bus, route, stop and rider, tracks vehicles live on a map, and pushes pick-up and drop-off alerts to parents. This page is the transport manager's setup checklist.
Where to find it — App drawer → Transport → Analytics → All Trips.

The building blocks
Transport is built from four linked objects. Set them up in this order and everything downstream falls into place.
| Object | What it is | Depends on |
|---|---|---|
| Stop | A named pick-up / drop-off point with coordinates | – |
| Route | An ordered sequence of stops | Stops |
| Vehicle | A bus/van with capacity and driver | – |
| Assignment | A student riding a route, boarding at a stop | Route, stop, student |
Vehicles & drivers
Register the fleet first. Open Transport → Vehicles → New and record each bus.
- Registration plate and a friendly name (for example “Bus 3 – Karen”).
- Seating capacity – this caps how many students you can assign.
- The assigned driver and (optionally) a conductor/matron.
- Insurance and inspection expiry dates so renewals do not lapse.
Transport fees
Transport is usually billed by zone or distance. Configure fee bands once and the system bills riders automatically when they are assigned.
- Open Configuration → Fee bands.
- Create a band per zone (for example Zone A near, Zone B mid, Zone C far) with a per-term price.
- Attach each stop to a fee band – the band sets the price for any student boarding there.
Tip – Pricing by stop rather than by student means a family that moves house simply changes stop and the new fee follows automatically – no manual price edits.
Important – A vehicle's capacity is enforced when you assign riders. Confirm capacities are realistic (seated only, no overloading) before the term starts – the system will refuse the seat that breaks the limit, and you do not want that surprise on day one.
