Live GPS & the driver app
Live GPS shows every bus moving on a map in real time, while the driver app records who boards and alights and fires arrival alerts to waiting parents. Together they give the school and families eyes on every journey.

Live GPS tracking
Open Transport → Live map. Each active vehicle appears as a moving marker with its route, driver and speed.
- ETA per stop – the map estimates arrival times from the bus's position and the stop sequence.
- Geofence alerts – when a bus enters the zone around a stop, the next pick-up alert is triggered automatically.
- Replay – review a completed journey to confirm the route was followed and timings were met.
The driver app
Drivers (or the on-board matron) run a simple mobile app that knows today's manifest for their route.
Recording pick-up & drop-off
- The driver opens the app and selects the route; today's rider list loads.
- At each stop, the driver taps each child Boarded as they get on (or scans their card).
- Any expected child not boarded is flagged Absent so the office knows immediately.
- At school (or the home stop in the afternoon) the driver taps each child Dropped.
Parent arrival alerts
Every boarding and drop-off event pushes a notification to that child's guardian through the parent portal and SMS.
| Event | Parent receives |
|---|---|
| Bus nearing stop | “Bus arriving in ~5 min” |
| Child boarded | “Amani boarded Bus 3 at 7:02” |
| Child dropped at school | “Amani arrived at school 7:48” |
| Child dropped at home | “Amani dropped at Total Karen 17:20” |
Safety on board
The boarded/dropped tally is a live headcount. If the driver's boarded count and the manifest disagree, the app warns before the bus pulls away – the single most effective guard against a child being left behind.
