Our own group's business, or somebody else's

The Group Link

A group that owns a licensed carrier and a brokerage runs them as two companies on one database, and one record joins them: the brokerage as the carrier knows it, and the carrier as the brokerage knows it. From that record every placement in the brokerage's book says whether it sits with the group's own carrier or with a third-party insurer — decided from the carrier the placement names, so a policy keyed by hand is classified the same way as one mirrored. Contracts the brokerage placed with the group carrier are put into its book of business every night or on a button, and its expected commission is priced by its own commission agreement rather than by the carrier's rate.

One record, two vocabularies

The brokerage and the carrier named the way each side knows the other, with the contracts already in the book and the remittances raised one click away.

Placed with whom

The brokerage's book grouped by where each policy sits: five with the group's own carrier, three with third-party insurers, with premium and commission for each.
