SISStudent Information System – the core record of every student, the foundation EduPrime is built on.
StreamA parallel division of a class/grade (e.g. Form 1 East, Form 1 West) used to split large year groups.
HouseA pastoral grouping that cuts across classes, used for competitions, points and boarding belonging.
CohortAn intake of students admitted to a programme together and progressing as a group.
ProgrammeA higher-education qualification (degree, diploma, certificate) made up of credit-bearing courses.
Course / unitA credit-bearing module within a programme, with its own marks and credit value.
CreditA unit of academic weight earned by passing a course; credits accumulate toward an award.
GPA / CGPAGrade-Point Average for a term / Cumulative GPA across all terms – credit-weighted measures of performance.
TranscriptThe official record of courses taken, grades, credits and GPA toward a qualification.
IEPIndividualised Education Plan – a tailored plan and goals for a learner with special educational needs.
OPACOnline Public Access Catalogue – the searchable front end of the library catalogue.
MARC21The standard bibliographic record format used by the library module.
CBETCompetency-Based Education & Training – vocational learning assessed as Competent / Not Yet Competent against occupational standards.
TVETTechnical and Vocational Education & Training – the sector CBET serves.
Unit of competencyA discrete, assessable skill area within a CBET qualification.
IB DPInternational Baccalaureate Diploma Programme – a pre-university qualification graded on the 1–7 scale.
CASCreativity, Activity, Service – an experiential core requirement of the IB Diploma.
Extended Essay (EE)An independent ~4,000-word research piece required in the IB Diploma.
Predicted gradeThe school’s forecast of an exam grade, used for university applications.
BursaryNeed-based financial assistance reducing a student’s fees.
ScholarshipMerit-based financial award reducing or covering fees.
DunningThe automated sequence of reminders chasing overdue fee balances.
AgingThe grouping of outstanding balances by how long they have been overdue.
BriaEduPrime’s AI early-warning engine that scores student risk and tracks interventions.
InterventionA logged action taken to support an at-risk student, tracked to outcome.
LTILearning Tools Interoperability – the standard (1.3) for secure launch and grade exchange between an LMS and EduPrime.
SCORMA packaging standard for self-contained e-learning content with completion tracking.
xAPIExperience API (Tin Can) – records granular learning activity to a learning record store.
SSOSingle Sign-On – logging in through a central identity provider (OIDC or SAML).
WebhookAn outbound HTTP notification EduPrime sends when a subscribed event occurs.
ODPCOffice of the Data Protection Commissioner – Kenya’s data-protection regulator.
SARSubject-Access Request – a data subject’s request for a copy of their personal data.
ROPARecord of Processing Activities – the inventory of how an institution processes personal data.

Record ruleA database-level rule that restricts which records a role can see – the basis of confidential-data protection.
Tip — Hand new staff this glossary on day one. A shared vocabulary – especially the difference between a stream, a cohort and a house – prevents most onboarding confusion.
