LMS, LTI & virtual classrooms

EduPrime connects to learning platforms and live-class tools through open standards – LTI 1.3 for LMS launch, SCORM and xAPI for content, and connectors for Zoom, Google Meet and Jitsi – so teaching tools and the student record stay in sync.

Where to find it — App drawer → LTI / LMS Bridge → Grade Passback.
Virtual classroom session
Virtual sessions launch from the timetable and write attendance back to EduPrime.

LTI 1.3 launch

LTI (Learning Tools Interoperability) 1.3 lets EduPrime and your LMS (Canvas, Moodle, Schoology and others) trust each other and pass users securely. EduPrime can act as the platform (launching out to tools) or the tool (launched from another LMS). A single sign-on launch means a student clicks once and lands in the right course, already authenticated.

  1. In the LMS, register EduPrime as an LTI 1.3 tool – exchange the client ID, deployment ID, and the OIDC login, redirect and JWKS URLs.
  2. In EduPrime, configure the matching LTI integration with the LMS’s issuer and key set.
  3. Map LMS courses to EduPrime courses so launches resolve to the right cohort.
  4. Enable Assignment & Grade Services (AGS) so grades flow back to the EduPrime gradebook automatically.
  5. Enable Names & Role Provisioning (NRPS) so rosters stay in step.
Tip — Use LTI 1.3 in preference to older LTI 1.1 wherever the LMS supports it – 1.3 uses signed JWTs and OAuth 2.0 rather than shared secrets, and carries grades and rosters natively.

SCORM & xAPI

For packaged e-learning content, EduPrime supports both major standards:

StandardWhat it does
SCORM 1.2 / 2004Upload a course package; EduPrime tracks completion, score and time within the lesson
xAPI (Tin Can)Captures granular learning statements (“learner did X”) from external activities into a learning record store

Use SCORM for self-contained modules delivered inside EduPrime, and xAPI when you need to record learning that happens outside it – simulations, mobile apps, field work.

Virtual classrooms

Live online classes are scheduled from the timetable and run through connectors to Zoom, Google Meet or Jitsi. When a lesson is set up:

  • EduPrime creates the meeting in the chosen provider and stores the join link on the lesson.
  • Students and the lecturer join from their portal – no separate invitation to manage.
  • Where the provider reports join/leave data, EduPrime writes attendance back to the lesson automatically.
  • Recordings, where enabled, are linked to the lesson for catch-up.
Important — Recording a class captures students’ personal data. Confirm you have a lawful basis or consent to record, tell participants recording is on, and apply your retention schedule to the recordings – do not keep class recordings indefinitely.
