Flow: the parent & student portal
The portal is a read-and-act window onto the same records. It doesn't hold its own data — it composes live views from the SIS, Academic, Fees and Welfare, scoped to one family.
What the portal composes

Alert rules
The portal's alert rules watch the same source data and notify the family automatically — an absence, a low balance, a behaviour incident or a new report card — by email and SMS. Engagement scoring shows the school which families are active.
Scoped by record rules — A parent only ever sees their own child's records; this is enforced server-side by record rules, not hidden in the interface.
